Meet the Secretariat

Secretary General of WAMUNC XIV: Bryce Jarvis

Welcome delegates, faculty, advisors and honored guests.  My name is Bryce Jarvis and I am extremely proud to serve as the Secretary General of WAMUNC XIV.  I have been actively involved in the GWU International Affairs Society and especially the administration of WAMUNC since first serving as the China Crisis Chair for WAMUNC XI.  My previous experience has been instrumental in planning the 13th and 12th WAMUNC conferences serving as the Chief of Staff and Director General respectively.  Hailing from the state of Alaska, I was born in Naha, Okinawa and attended High School in Eagle River, AK.  I am a senior in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Philosophy with a specialization in Public Affairs and Political Science with a concentration in Comparative Politics and Law.  Currently, I work in the United States Department of Justice as a program support clerk for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Executive Office.  When not studying, working, or stressing over WAMUNC, I enjoy sleeping, playing Call of Duty, and working out.  After I graduate, I hope to go to Law School and join the Air Force JAG Corps or if the whole law thing doesn’t work out, OCS.

Chief of Staff of WAMUNC XIV: Rupalee Rashatwar
Hello! My name is Rupalee Rashatwar and I’m a rising senior in the Elliott School of International Affairs double majoring in International Affairs and Economics. I’ve taken advantage of these past few years in Washington, DC redefining my idea of internationalism. I spent the Summer of 2009 in London studying Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development, and this past Fall semester interning at an economic development association in Rabat, Morocco.  I have been an active participant in Model United Nations since I was a freshman in high school in South Jersey, and I have only fond memories of my time traveling and debating around the area. I am looking forward to serving as your Chief of Staff and to making the most of WAMUNC XIV!

Hi everyone!  I’m Dan, and I’ll be serving as your faculty liaison this year.  Last fall, I was Secretary-General for our middle-school conference, GWCIA (link).  This is my third and final WAMUNC, and after stints as a crisis staffer and crisis director, I’m glad to be able to help from the secretariat side of things. As Faculty Advisor it’s my job to help you and your students have a great time at the conference.  If you have questions about anything, from parliamentary procedure to conference logistics, send me an email at dphenn@gwu.edu and I’ll be glad to help.

Director of Operations of WAMUNC XIV: Alexander Powell

Hello and welcome!  My name is Alex Powell, and I will be the Director of Operations at WAMUNC XIV.  I am a senior majoring in International Affairs at the Elliott School and minoring in French language and literature.  I hail from the wonderful town of Winchester, just outside Boston.  In addition to my focus on European politics (I spent the past semester abroad studying international affairs at Sciences Po in Paris), I have a deep interest in National Security Policy, and have spent the past two summers working in the National Security Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.  This is my third WAMUNC conference, having already served as a crisis staffer and a vice-chair in previous years.  Outside of school, I have been a competitive ballroom dancer and enjoy running as well as visiting museums in and around DC.

Hello everybody! My name is Jennifer Chuang, and I am a sophomore studying international affairs and business. Originally from Lexington, Massachusetts, I have
participated in Model United Nations for the past three years. I have filled many roles in a conference, ranging from delegate to vice chair to the administrative aspects of hosting a conference. This is my second WAMUNC; last year I was the vice chair of the Mexican drug cartels. When not donned in western business attire, I enjoy exploring the city, skating, and going for a run.

Under-Secretary General for Joint Crisis Committees: Molly Sullivan

Hello! My name is Molly Sullivan and I am a sophomore at the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. I am an International Affairs major with a French Language and Literature minor and I have the privilege to serve as your Under-Secretary General for the Joint Crisis Committees. I grew up in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, called Hingham and because of that I am a big Boston sports fan. I have been involved in Model UN since my sophomore year in high school and was thrilled to find out that I could continue to be involved in one way or another at GW. During my freshman year, I travelled with the Model UN Team, Crisis Staffed the Historic Security Council at GWCIA, GW’s Model UN Conference in the fall for middle schoolers, and Crisis Directed the Security Council at WAMUNC XIII. This year, it is my pleasure to serve at Business Director for GWCIA and the Under-Secretary General for the JCCs at WAMUNC. While not planning Model UN Conferences, I like to explore DC, speak French, and get involved with my honors fraternity (no, it’s not all guys, it’s coed). I wish you the best of luck in all your preparations and look forward to welcoming you all to WAMUNC XIV!
