It’s 1961, during the height of the Cold War in Berlin. Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union have remained unresolved and reached a boiling point, with the hope of the conflict being mitigated resting in the hands of the United Nations Security Council. The global superpowers have been bickering back and forth about the status of the German Democratic
Republic (East Germany) and Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and seek a normalization of relations between the countries on the status of Berlin. Delegates in this committee will tackle pressing issues such as territorial boundaries, human rights concerns, and conflicts between Eastern and Western Europe in the context of the Cold War. Will this Cold War turn hot due to the Crisis in Berlin? This is a double delegate committee that will incorporate crisis and general assembly elements.
